I am a artist of many mediums living in Chicago, Illinois. I attended University where I received a bachelor’s degree in Art and Psychology. While enrolled there, a professor introduced me to the Chicago Imagists and immediately I knew that I had finally found a group of people who I felt connected to. The 60’s and 70’s fashion, color pallets, and patterns are things that consistently pop into my head and inspire my work. In addition to those, color pallets from 90s cartoons, Y2K fashion, toys, and Lisa Frank all hold a special place in my heart.

My inspiration also comes from intangible and indescribable experiences, emotions and thoughts, as well as trauma. Big events and experiences in my life affect my art and I try to recreate these ideas and feelings through my art. I am a natural observer—I look at and absorb everything around me with my eyes as the lenses, then let it develop until the inspiration starts the process of art making.

In this digital world, I take pride in creating tangible and tactile pieces of art. Another component of my art includes found items and recycled materials. I believe that art can be made out of anything, so buying a pre-made canvas from a store is a real turn off for me. I also enjoy the idea of my art being unable to replicate. Recycled textiles, deflated balloons, my own hair, googly eyes, as well as repurposed and vintage paper products are just some of the materials I use.

I believe that art should age like people age. I want my art to live a life and convey to my audience that perfection does not exist. I believe in embracing our flaws and I try to capture the obscure with my materials and layering. Some materials and adhesives would not be approved by an art conservation or restoration professional, but that is what creates its beauty. Being as unique and original as possible, while relating to people, is the main goal.
