Swaddled with Warmth for Sprouts is a quilt outlining my childhood nighttime routine. I’d draw, eat a little snack, turn on my moon nightlight, make sure I have my favorite stuffed animal “Murries” with me, get in bed, hug all my stuffed animals goodnight, get my bedtime kiss from my parents, and fall asleep looking at the glow in the dark star stickers on the ceiling of my room. This piece is very dear to me as I believe a quilt is the best symbol for love. The person I am today is made of all the things and people I love and all the people who love me. All these things are stitched together in my heart to keep me warm, swaddled, and protected. Without this love, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to grow as a person, to express myself, enjoy the little things in life, or be able to receive and give all the love I have in my heart.
