Biography/Statement

I am a life-long (48 years) painter and visual artist based in the Chicago area. Primarily self-taught, I work mostly with oils, but sometimes explore watercolor, ink, and experimental photography. My work could be described as magic realism; themes borrowed from reality, and sometimes presented like a movie still. Spurred by an early interest in Super-8 film and cinematic special effects, I studied Industrial Design Technology at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the late 1990’s. However, it was around this time that I went in a different direction and began focusing on developing and expanding upon the discipline of oil painting. Since then, my paintings have been exhibited and collected worldwide. From 2008 to the present, my paintings have been represented at the Golden Triangle Antiques, Chicago. Currently, I’m working as a painting instructor at Art City and working towards a degree in geoscience.
