“Black Breaks Through (Or Orange Strikes Out on its Own” by Wendy Stegall
16’’ by 16’’
Oil and Acrylic on wood panel

I like the dance between random and deliberate, as I believe abstract art often is - intuitive decisions, spontaneous inklings and intellectual exploration (usually at the end.) My oil paintings are slower and more edited. The works on paper have allowed more freedom and play. Color is the fuel, and the love of rectangles embedded or fully formed. It's always exciting to get to the point where things are set up enough that the magic happens - the unexpected. If it happens early then you have the danger of messing it up or letting it go.
