Beatriz Badikian-Gartler

Why do I make art? I love to play with colors and cutouts and crayons and pencils. I get lost among the brushes and the glue and the papers. Time flies when I’m drawing. My imagination flies too and I create collages with bits and pieces from magazines, wrapping papers, postcards, cloth. But I am also a political being. I make art that says something, that exposes, shocks, questions, challenges. I believe the artist cannot isolate herself from the world and its struggles for justice and dignity, for freedom and an end to poverty. I do my part, however small, with my art, be it in collages or drawings or poems.
