I find that the recycling and flattening of narratives and their composite parts is something that I see happen in democratic nations around the world. The same base narrative is reused but with swapped components so as to match the intent of the moment in time. In my work I have tried to mirror this technique of recycling through compulsively adding figures, shapes and objects to a visual catalogue which that gets re-purposes into moments from a missing narrative. The work depicts minute details that hint to a larger, perhaps more bizarre scene. Flattened textures with vibrant color take the artists hand out of the work just enough so that the viewer has space to interpret and claim a little ownership over the narrative and intent.
