The artwork captures the moment when a young woman struggles to outgrow a dysfunctional friendship that has been a defining part of her life. Although recognizing that the friendship is holding her back, she struggles to set healthy boundaries.

"Beginnings" explores the metaphorical death of a close friendship and the opportunities for growth and transformation that can arise when one lets go of attachment to emotional dynamics that are no longer working. Ending an un-reciprocal friendship can actually be a new beginning, providing space for personal growth and self discovery.
