Party Number 1
By Bennie Pabst
I am a Nicaraguan-American painter, designer, and fiber artist based in Chicago, IL and New York, NY. My painting practice is influenced by my experience as a queer and feminine presenting person of color and the social challenges that has presented throughout my life, as well as the unique social anxiety that my generation has developed growing up in a digital age. I have developed two bodies of work: Abstract figurative painting and drawings, as well as the production of hand-knitted colorful garments. Texture and color and the physicality of natural materials are essential aspects of my practice. I am currently a BFA student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
