Oil on Canvas

My work is an examination of the interactions I experience between myself and the world around me, particularly other people. I have begun to combine my photography and my affinity for representational oil painting to create seemingly larger than life pieces of work. I wish to create a sense of fresh familiarity between the audience and the subjects of my work. While composition in photography partly relies on the theory of “right place, right time,” it is also the energy of the person themselves that lends itself to a foundation of a lively painting. Through my experience with working with live models, I have been able to hone in the traditional representational structure of painting and give it a refreshed outlook.
