I live in a broken body. My bones are riddled with healed fractures and surgical anchors, my knees and ankles are dotted with stitch-scars, and my arms are bruised from hundreds of blood-draws at my IVF clinic. What is left to celebrate in such a damaged body? "Vehicles of creative power (portrait of the artist between hips and hands)" and "Dance on healing legs" are testaments to the inherent value of my flawed body. I wanted to emphasize the power of hands that can paint and feet that dance without hiding the pudgy hips and thick thighs that are attached to them.
