"In Utero" by Danielle Dingerson
Acrylic on Canvas
3’ by 3’
$800
The way we view our bodies changes. Just as our bodies shift and grow, so does our perception of ourselves and others. The human figure is something I admire greatly. Thousands of years of evolution have led us to being extremely adaptable, strong, and independent. We are unlike any other creature. So why in the modern age do we criticize our figures so much? Each year I struggle with the way my body grows. It grows in directions I'm not comfortable with. I gain weight and I lose it. I struggled with eating for most of my life and finally I decided to face my body head on. I avoided looking at myself for years. I can now see myself for what I am: human. A work of art.
