Growing up as an immigrant to a single mother, she would often be dropped off at daycare with a notebook and a handful of crayons, spending most of her childhood drawing. Her many years of competitive sports, theatre, and dance influence her pieces, which often feature a sense of movement, dramatic lighting, and emotion. Eventually her passion for languages and art led her to a brief study program in Paris, where she honed in on her figure study skills, drawing live models and dedicating time to study the masters at Louvre. Recently, Alma has continued. to study the human form while also focusing on natural landscapes and architecture.
