"Summer Poppies" by Drake Fortner
Oil Paint
30’’ by 48’’
My work is rooted in the natural world such as landscapes, wildlife, still life, and the abstract. Working primarily in oil, I approach each painting through the lens of Impressionism, seeking to capture not just what I see, but what I feel in a moment: light, motion, stillness, and presence. Art has always been part of my life. I began drawing as a child, and over time, that instinct evolved into a deeper creative calling. I transitioned to oil painting after being inspired by a professional rock climber who also painted vivid landscapes. Something in his work pushed me towards painting and I have never looked back.
