“Ed and Lorraine Warren” by Dalila Mendez

Oil on Canvas

The world I have created is a representation of oddity and curiosity. A world that bridges the gap between the conscious and the subconscious. My latest exhibition “The Pink Room” is a vessel for these oddities where they can run wild and play. Pigs own butcher shops where they slaughter other pigs. Nurses hold fetal pigs that were meant to be used in classrooms as experiments and dress them up in tutus. And for some reason, girls are transformed into fruit that can be seen as some kind of innuendo. All of my artwork comes from deep inside of my subconscious. I don’t force them out, I let them present themselves to me through strange objects I find in thrift stores, eBay, and shelves in my bedroom.
