"Beneath the Canopy" by Brian Gay

$300.00
Only 1 available

Acrylic on Panel

12’’ by 16’’

My paintings are dynamic compositions based on simple forms and textural variations. I use strong contrasts between curvilinear and angular shapes to create rhythm and balance. I start with a general idea of the composition and color scheme and allow the paintings to evolve as I work on them. Besides using a brush, I like to experiment with other methods of applying paint. I incorporate layering and patterns, while drawing inspiration from a variety of sources including mineral textures, microscopic photography, space imagery, and dyed fabrics. I aim to provoke a sense of curiosity and invite viewers to interpret and relate to the pieces on a personal level.
