8" x 8" Oil on Canvas

I paint in oils, have since I was twelve, nearly fifty years ago. My output has ebbed and flowed over the decades, as have my interests changed to and from landscapes, animals, abstractions, and flowers. The subtle ways light interacts with the human form, particularly the emotions of the face, have currently grabbed my attention. This portrait of an ageing circus performer, their trade becoming history and considered passé’ by many, is a metaphor of artists like myself who watch as pixels and data bytes pass them by in an AI-headed world.
